Resolute Communications has hired Dr Leo Francis, president of med ed agency OCC Europe, in a board director role. The agency is seeking to win medical education contracts and offer clients ‘integrated’ comms services.
Francis is the first boardlevel appointment at the agency since it was set up by joint MDs and founding partners Paul Blackburn and Anna Korving four years ago.
Korving said: ‘We are finding that clients are increasingly wanting agencies that can do both med ed and PR.’
Resolute has only done a small volume of med ed work before, for clients such as Roche UK.
Francis, currently on gardening leave from OCC, hopes to start at Resolute in around six weeks. He will work across existing clients but his priority will be newbusiness generation.
Korving said further boardlevel hires were planned at the agency, which, she added, now has 26 fullte staff.
Francis has known Korving for many years; OCC has recently worked alongside Resolute for shared client Shire Pharmaceuticals.
Francis joined OCC four years ago as commercial director; he was promoted to president after nine months. He previously worked at Bates Healthworld.
